Austria Salzburg has already got too big for its boots! – There are not enough training facilities for the first team, reserves and junior sides, nor is the ground big enough to accommodate the numbers of people trying to come to the games. This has been an issue of interest to the media, the public and local politicians for some time now.
However, up to now there has been no clear policy on how best to assist Austria Salzburg as regards the elimination of these problems. Councillor Padutsch has lent his support to the erection of a football stadium in a part of Salzburg known as Liefering. On the other hand, the Mayor of Salzburg, Heinz Schaden and his Deputy, Harald Preuner, have suggested playing home games in another part of the town in the EURO 2008 stadium in Klessheim. However, in view of the current crowd levels, the 30,000 capacity stadium is far too big for our needs and seldom more than half full for the present Bundesliga tenants, RB Salzburg.
Our experience has shown that since Austria Salzburg was refounded in 2005 the club has rarely been able to rely on ‘external’ help. Hence, ‘Die Violetten’, a great traditional club and its fans, have been forced to take some matters into their own hands in terms of the need for space and facilities. ‘Help yourself, then (the football) God(s) will help you, too!’ With this in mind Austria Salzburg has established its own savings fund for the future, ‘Eine Heimat für die Austria’, with the aim of adding financial weight to discussions with local politicians to augment the solid practical arguments existing in our favour.
The first ambitious intermediate target for the fund has been set at €250,000. To achieve this goal we created a working group responsible for the regular ongoing tasks of organising fundraising activities. The success of this undertaking is also dependent upon various donations and standing orders. All those interested in playing an active role in the future of SV Austria Salzburg are very welcome to arrange donations in the form of bank transfers or standing orders (form can be downloaded below). As SV Austria Salzburg was originally founded in 1933, as a token of our gratitude all monthly standing orders of €19.33 upwards will be rewarded with the award of an top quality, exclusive, limited edition Austria pin which cannot be purchased or acquired in the fan shop or anywhere else. Nevertheless, all donations are welcome – as much as you can – as much as you want! Every contribution helps and is extremely welcome!
